About Us

Apex Works is a registered charity set up in Leicester in 1982. Apex began as an organisation that helped ex-offenders get their lives back on track. Since then we have developed to offer more services to more people across the region.  Our service users now come from all sorts of backgrounds and communities – the one thing they have in common is that they all face some barriers or difficulties to finding training, skills and employment.  We also now offer a range of service to employers, from staff training to recruitment services, we can support people in the workplace.

Vision & values

We want to be the leading regional organisation which offers opportunities to vulnerable and marginalised people so they can achieve their aims through learning and work and contribute to their wider communities. We provide value for money and measurable outcomes for service users and partners.

We aim to raise aspirations of people who face barriers by:

  • Supporting progress
  • Offering opportunity
  • Embracing diversity
  • Working in partnership.

Apex works well because :

  • Apex House is a safe and welcoming environment where service users from all backgrounds feel comfortable
  • we have passionate and professional staff, with one to one guidance and advice and low staff to service user ratios in training courses.
  • many of our staff and volunteers have been service users so have direct understanding of the needs and issues
  • we get to know our service users well so we can tailor our support towards individual needs and abilities
  • we have a full range of support, from getting people ready for work, to getting a job, to then giving ongoing supporting when they have a job
  • our popular volunteer programme gives the opportunity togain real experience and new skills in a working environment.
